Growth Hormone Deficiency

Growth hormone deficiency can produce illness in both children and adults. When growth hormone deficiency is diagnosed in children the main presenting symptom is short stature associated with delayed development.

In adults the presenting symptoms associated with growth hormone deficiency are fatigue and headache. With growth hormone replacement these symptoms seem to remarkably improve in most cases.

Growth hormone deficiency may occur for unexplained reasons or as a result of pituitary injury from numerous causes including: trauma or head injury, pressure from a pituitary tumor or cyst or disruption of the pituitary circulation.

It is important to establish the cause of growth hormone deficiency if possible.
